Borussia Dortmund’s new sporting director, Ole Book, has publicly acknowledged the club’s interest in Hertha BSC’s highly-rated 16-year-old midfielder, Kennet Eichhorn. Speaking in a media round, Book stated, “I think he has a certain creativity. We know him well, we like him too. Like many other clubs, we appreciate the player. As for the rest, we’ll see.”
Eichhorn, who recently became the youngest goalscorer in 2. Bundesliga history, is reportedly on the radar of several top clubs, including RB Leipzig, Bayer 04 Leverkusen, and Manchester City. According to Sky, Bayer Leverkusen and Manchester City are discussing a potential deal that would see City trigger a release clause—reportedly between €10 million and €12 million for Champions League clubs—and then loan Eichhorn to Leverkusen. The two clubs have maintained strong relations following previous transfers of Farid Alfa-Ruprecht and Claudio Echeverri.
At Bayern Munich, however, there is internal disagreement. While sporting director Max Eberl is in favor, veteran board members Uli Hoeneß and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge are reportedly against the move. Their priority lies in signing a backup for Harry Kane and Luis Díaz, and they see youth prospect Noel Aseko—returning from Hannover 96 in the summer—as a potential successor for Leon Goretzka.
Book also addressed the search for a replacement for Julian Brandt, who will leave on a free transfer at the end of his contract. When asked about Samuele Inácio—the 18-year-old Italian U19 international who recently scored his first Bundesliga goal—Book confirmed that Inácio will get playing time but added, “We will still look around the market in attack. We announced we want to add more creativity and offensive power. We have a concrete plan for Samuele.”
Regarding striker Serhou Guirassy, who has been linked with Fenerbahce and reportedly wants to leave for a suitable offer, Book said, “He has great desire for Borussia Dortmund. He is very, very important. It is not our plan to sell him, but if extraordinary offers come in, we will think about it.”
Book emphasized Dortmund’s need to act “economically responsibly” in the transfer market while remaining flexible for opportunistic moves. “Many of our players are still at the World Cup. If someone plays outstandingly, offers may follow. At a club like Borussia Dortmund with very good players, it’s almost natural that offers arrive. Then we decide whether to adjust or let a player go.” He noted that the club has room to make transfers but must be creative in finding models. The BVB has already secured three new signings for next season, including Joane Gadou from Red Bull Salzburg.
