Former Flamengo manager Filipe Luís has emerged as one of six final candidates to take over as head coach of Chelsea for the upcoming European season. The London club’s board is searching for a replacement for Liam Rosenior, who was dismissed at the end of April.

The Brazilian previously played for Chelsea during the 2014/15 campaign. The search comes as Chelsea plans its squad rebuild following the World Cup cycle.
As a coach, the former left-back enjoyed a highly successful stint with Flamengo. His trophy haul includes the Copa Libertadores, Copa do Brasil, Brazilian Serie A title, and Supercopa do Brasil.
Filipe Luís has been without a club since March 3 this year, when he was surprisingly let go by Flamengo after an 8-0 win over Madureira in the Campeonato Carioca. Although the team had lost the Recopa Sudamericana, their overall statistics remained strong and they were coming off a winning streak from the previous season.
Beyond the Brazilian, other names are under consideration by Chelsea’s hierarchy. The shortlist includes Xabi Alonso, Fulham’s Marco Silva, and Oliver Glasner, who is set to leave Crystal Palace. Also in the mix are Andoni Iraola, leaving Bournemouth, and Edin Terzic, formerly of Borussia Dortmund.
