Marcus Rashford led FC Barcelona to victory against Real Madrid in the Clásico with a brilliant free-kick that broke the deadlock at Spotify Camp Nou. “I don’t know if I’ll stay. I’m not a magician. If I were, I would stay. We’ll see what happens. I came to Barça to win, I want to win as much as possible. This is a great team that will achieve a lot in the future, and being part of it would be something special, so we’ll see,” said the 14-goal, 14-assist striker when asked about his future by BBC reporters.
“Of course I’d like to stay. We’ll see what happens; football is unpredictable. For now, I’m living in the moment, and we’ll see when the season ends. It’s an incredible feeling, and I’ll remember this for the rest of my life,” Rashford added.
The Englishman also explained his decision to take the free-kick, admitting he wasn’t sure about it initially. “I had no intention of shooting. I wasn’t going to strike because when I placed the ball, I didn’t see the right angle. I didn’t feel confident it would be a goal, so I was planning to cross. But everyone told me to shoot, and gradually I grew more confident. It turned out to be a beautiful goal,” he recounted.

Rashford has seized his opportunities to show he can be an important squad player for Barça. Beyond the numbers, he has scored crucial goals like the one in the Clásico, against Atlético Madrid at the Metropolitano in La Liga, and at Newcastle in the Champions League league phase, bringing a different dimension to the attack. He has performed well, especially when injuries to Raphinha and Lamine hurt the team.
However, his future remains highly uncertain. Sporting director Deco must decide whether to activate the €30 million purchase option included in the loan deal with Manchester United. Currently, indications are that the club prefers to explore other alternatives, but it’s too early to rule out any scenario.
